Peter is the longest tenured mechanic at High Gear Cyclery. He’s worked at the Stirling store since 1998, but has been in the bike industry since 1973. Peter not only knows how to work on any kind of bike, he probably has one in his extensive collection. He just loves bicycles.
Chris has been working at High Gear since 2009. BMX and mountain biking are his favorite styles of riding, although he did once own a really nice road bike. Chris is a sales person here at the shop, but can also turn a wrench. Chris also handles receiving inventory and would be happy to help with any special orders. When he’s not riding, Chris likes Devil’s hockey and playing with his puppy.
Tom has been wrenching at High Gear since the summer of 2013, but has been in the bicycle industry on and off since 1978. He commutes to work by bike most days helping him stay fit for cyclocross racing. Tom also has a passion for 1970’s motorcycles.
Tom and his wife, Christy, maintain a large stable of bikes for all racing disciplines. Christy races road, mountain, and cyclocross. Tom races cyclocross.
Caroline started selling at High Gear in July 2012 after too many years in the corporate world. She enjoys any bike ride but tends to favor long road rides. The only trouble is picking which bike to ride, making sure they all get loved the same amount. Although favoring metal bikes, Caroline recently added a Trek Madone to her stable. Nice. She also recently succumbed to the allure of the fat bike and added a Trek Farley to her collection. Fat is where it is at!
Since 2005, Caroline has participated in 7 versions of Ride the Rockies, a Bike Virginia and a cycling tour of NW Oregon. Locally, she has participated in Century for the Cure, Covered Bridges, Revolutionary Ramble and Farmlands Flat Century.
It makes her happy to see people smile when they get a new bike.
Susie started working at the shop in 1998 when High Gear moved to the new building on Main Avenue. She can and does perform just about every job in the store. Road or mountain, Susie just loves to ride. Look for her in the woods on her new fat bike.
Dennis is expert on all the products in the shop, just ask. In fact, Dennis is a real Renaissance man. He can do anything. Dennis goes for a bike ride everyday, often commuting by bicycle. He has so many Cannondale bikes at his house he could probably open a Cannondale museum.
Dennis is the Sales Manager at the Stirling location.
Recent additions to Dennis’ bike collection are 3 fat bikes. He loves them.
Dennis competes in a variety of local events including the Mountain Man Biathlon, Single Speed-A-Palooza, Bear Scat 50 and a variety of other mountain bike racing, endurance and biathlon events.
